A lens through which social studies can be experienced -Art Integration

Art integrated learning is a teaching learning model which is based on learning ‘through the arts’ and ‘with the arts’. It is a process where art becomes the medium of teaching learning, a key to understanding concepts within any subject of the curriculum.

Integrating art allows students to engage in the process of analyzing, evaluating and creating, thus making learning more interesting through & inclusive. Art is a reflection of culture and using art from diverse cultures can help students develop a greater understanding of the world around them.

Art integration in social studies becomes a lens through which history, culture and geography can be examined in a more engaging and relatable manner. It allows students to visualize and internalize the essence of a historical period, the ethos of culture or the geography of a land.

Art integration allows the child to think imaginatively in doing hands-on activities, paper crafts, models, charts and helps them work in groups, builds confidence among them.

It inspires creativity & a love of learning and also encourages important life skills like sharing, caring, self-expression, confidence & empathy. It allows students to explore & express their emotions, understand and appreciate the perspective of others & learn how to work together and solve the problem.
